The Chauvin family and entrusted staff have been serving the North Country of New York for four generations offering insurance to families, individuals and businesses.

Gene Chauvin is the current president of Chauvin Agency and the company was started by his grandfather, Hector Chauvin, who formed the agency in 1932 by the Beekmantown Grange. Fire protection insurance was promoted for farmers throughout the region. In 1958, Hector appointed his son, Merritt as Grange director and fire insurance agent.

As the business progressed, risk programs and liability were added to the services offered to our clients. In 1963, Merritt grew the business by purchasing six more agencies in the region and eventually growing the company’s reputation for providing a wide variety of insurance coverages to customers at reasonable prices.

Merritt was forced to leave the business due to illness, but his wife, Lita Chauvin operated the company successfully until 1996. Today, Gene Chauvin operates the company with continued dedication to first-rate customer service and insurance coverage to fit all budgets. Gene’s own son, Andre Chauvin has also joined the business as a licensed insurance producer, continuing as the fourth generation.
